Overview
VIM is a text editor that allows you to create and edit text with lightning speed. VIM takes your hands off the mouse and keeps your hands on the keyboard at all times so you can move much quicker and focus on programming and text editing rather than pointing and clicking. It took me far too many years to commit to VIM, and now that I have, it is my primary IDE for coding and text editing on all of my systems.
Topics you’ll learn
In this course you will learn the basics of the VIM text editor all the way to features that will make you an intermediate user. This includes:
- The basics of opening, saving, editing, and exiting a file.
- Common text operations like finding and replacing text.
- Working in the different modes of VIM.
- Working with and managing multiple windows in VIM.
- Working with multiple tabs in VIM.
- And mixing VIM with TMUX for multitasking.
